Jazz Win at Kansas City, 4-1
|
The Montreal Jazz picked up a win at Debris Field, defeating the Kansas City Tornadoes, 4-1. Starting pitcher Oscar Alfaro was an essential part of his team's success. Alfaro got the win, improving to 8-2. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Ernesto Herrera, who finished 4th in the TML in saves with 40 in 2057, earned the save for Montreal.
Montreal used the timely hitting of Bob Enriquez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Jazz on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Alfaro said. "And the same is true when you lose."
Montreal, at 26-34, sits in last place in the Thurman Munson League Tim Ervin Division.
