Pioneers Rack Up 3-1 Win Versus Cabo San Lucas
|
Despite the rain, the fans at "The Fort" at B.C. Place enjoyed a good ballgame.
Vancouver used a superb performance from starting pitcher Mike Ortner to down the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 3-1. Ortner yielded 1 run over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 8-2.
Vancouver took advantage of an error in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 0-0, when Jamal Simmons hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Pioneers in front, 1-0.
"Felt great, felt really good," said Ortner.
With the win, Vancouver pushed its record to 32-28.
