Mounties center fielder Gene Johnson put his stamp on his team's 11-3 win over the Quebec Armada. Johnson went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for Montreal in the contest. Montreal goes to 40-20. The win puts them 5½ games up in their division.

Early in the game, catcher Jean-Louis Barrier had a 3-run home run for Montreal. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Mounties on top, 3-0.

"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Johnson. "I just want to win ballgames."
