The Victoria Cougars started the Divisional Series in style, winning on the road against the Brighton Steelhounds at Steelhounds Grounds by a score of 8-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Cougars left fielder Alan Lewis excelled. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.

A key moment came with no one out in the top of the second. That's when Lewis hit a fastball from Hector Lopez for a 2-run home run, putting Victoria up, 2-0.

"We played hard and won," said Lewis. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Steelhounds Grounds in Brighton.
