Prisoners Ballpark was the site of a exceptional pitchers' duel.
California Golden Bears starter Tommy Weaver turned in a sterling performance against the Stanford Cardinals, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. California is in 13th place in the Cliff Gustafson with a record of 10-9.
California pinch hitter Eric Carr had a key at-bat for the Golden Bears in the bottom of the ninth inning. Facing left-hander Shane Chilton, Carr drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It put California in front, 2-1. For the day, Carr drew 1 walk.
In comments to the California News, Weaver admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
