Cardinals Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Rookie League Championship
|
The Montreal Cardinals moved to within one game of the Rookie League Championship, downing the visiting Rosewell Tribbles at Denis Coderre Stadium by a score of 6-2. Cardinals left-hander Willie de los Santos had a strong outing in which he threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the Cardinals a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
In the bottom of the fifth, Montreal second baseman David Nieves had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Nieves stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-1, Montreal. For the game, he was 1-3 with a walk.
