Reeves Blasts Lighting, Scorpions Take Game 5, 7-3
|
The Scottsdale Scorpions have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Thunder Bay Lighting, winning, 7-3, at Scottsdale Stadium. Scorpions designated hitter Cody Reeves was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Scorpions to 3-2 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Scottsdale third baseman David Barreto helped the Scorpions go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Barreto hit a run-scoring single off Thunder Bay pitcher Bobby Whitaker.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Scorpions manager Sergio Guerrero said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 25th , 2063 at Lightning Grove in Thunder Bay.
