Orange Sox Dealt 11-7 Home Loss
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Syracuse Orange Sox home opener. Alexis Ruiz started for the home team against Alexis Barragan for the Rockville Rangers. The Orange Sox were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 11-7, Rockville. Ramon Sanchez, though, was impressive. The win belonged to Jonathan Carnahan in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Francisco Chacon took the loss for Syracuse. Picking up the save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Costillo.
Rockville third baseman Tobias Stoker contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 8-6.
"We knocked the fire out of the ball," said Rockville manager Bill Gallagher. "The guys swung the bats pretty good, and that's fun to see."
