League Championship Series Game 1 Goes to Thunder Bay, Thanks to Juarez
The Thunder Bay Lighting started the League Championship Series in style, downing the visiting Scottsdale Scorpions at Lightning Grove by a score of 9-6 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Lighting designated hitter Miguel Juarez went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2.

Antonio Marquez helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run home run. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Lighting.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Thunder Bay manager Masamune Fujimoto said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Lightning Grove in Thunder Bay.
