The Buffalo Bison put one in the win column with an opening day 13-11 triumph over the Bloomington Blazers. The crowd at Thundering Grounds at Bison Stadium watched Jonathan Schimmel put on a fine performance. Jake Nulty came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.

Jeff Holmes, who finished 4th in the TML in wins above replacement with 5.5 last year, chipped in a 2-run home run for Buffalo in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 2 home runs, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
