Winfield Edges Nichols, 1-0, Reyes Ks 11 | The Winfield Warriors did just enough to secure a 1-0 victory over the Nichols Gnats at The Pond. Nobody did more than pitcher Jose Reyes, who captured player of the game honors. Sean Bonin got the save, his 36th in 42 chances. The Warriors, at 81-78, sit in second place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division.
Reyes, who dominated for Winfield, earned the victory to move to 20-4. He was in control the whole game, scattering 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 11. Nichols batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"We did just enough to win," Reyes said.
