| Kings Turn Back St. Petersburg, 7-6 | The Atlantic City Kings beat the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 7-6 at Billy Mathews Field, in part due to first baseman John Phillips, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Atlantic City reliever Vic Horn picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-3. Brian Reddin was collared with the loss. The Kings have an impressive 97-62 record.
Phillips had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-1 sinker from Brian Reddin, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Kings a 7-5 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Phillips.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Atlantic City manager Sayyid bin Ragheb.
