In a tight contest between the Eugene Emeralds and the Marshall Lawmen, Carlos Munoz was the determining factor. The Eugene right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. The Emeralds improved their record to 49-82 by beating Marshall.

Manuel Melendez had a direct impact on the outcome. Melendez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Eugene up, 1-0.

"Scoring was at a premium tonight," Melendez said.
