In a tight tilt between the Nichols Gnats and the Brownsville Bandits, Chad Stoppa was the deciding factor. The Nichols right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Nichols reliever Dustin Phillips picked up the win, raising his record to 7-3. Brandon Cloud was tagged with the loss. The Gnats now have a mark of 61-67.

Matt Engelhart had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth for Nichols. He came through with a 2-run single to put Nichols in front, 2-1.

"We played hard and won," said Stoppa. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
