The Hazleton Birdwings got a superb performance from pitcher Arturo Berrios, but the Victoria Vikings still won the game, 5-4. Berrios came in in relief and pitched to 15 batters. Chris Cox, the winner, improved to 5-12. He held Hazleton to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. Mike Bergren nailed down his 3rd save.

Victoria used a clutch at-bat from Rogelio Roman to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Vikings ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Said Victoria manager Jim Edwards: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."

The Vikings, at 56-71, sit in 6th place in the TML A Earl Weaver Division.
