Lake Monsters Lose, 4-1, at The Pond | The Nichols Gnats got a stellar performance from pitcher Franklin Salinas, who handcuffed the Okanagan offense en route to a 4-1 win at The Pond. The winning pitcher was Salinas, now 10-14. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Nichols now sits in 5th place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division at 63-82.
The Gnats got a big at-bat from catcher Edgar Dominguez. For the game, Dominguez went 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Nichols a 1-0 lead.
Salinas attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
