Carmel Beats Bel Air, Goes to 84-40
|
The Carmel Apples picked up a win, 8-3, over the Bel Air Princes at Philip Banks Field. Wayne Keith led the charge. The Phoenix, Arizona native went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Carmel. Nick Fortenberry got the win, improving to 13-7. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 4. Ruben Rivas recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 3 for 5.
Carmel used a clutch at-bat from Rich Van Winkle to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Apples ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I like the roll we're on," said Carmel manager Hi-yuan Pan.
Carmel's winning streak has reached 4 games.
