The Carmel Apples picked up a win at Baylor Ballpark, knocking off the Brisbane Bush Wackers, 5-2. Starting pitcher Tetsuhiro Nitta was a big reason why. Carmel reliever Tetsuhiro Nitta got the win, raising his record to 8-7. Shane Atmore was tagged with the loss. Earning his 19th save for Carmel was Jeff Gamble.

Randy Chandler dealt the Bush Wackers a blow in the top of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Carmel leading 3-2, Chandler hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Carmel manager Hi-yuan Pan.

Brisbane now owns a losing streak of 7 games.
