Gnats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Saints, 11-9
The game between Nichols and St. Paul is in the books, despite a little rain.

The Nichols Gnats stopped the St. Paul Saints, 11-9, at The Pond. The Gnats got a big game from Antonio Guzman, who went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Nichols pitcher Jon Kendall earned the win, hiking his record to 6-5. Chris Hill suffered the loss.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Nichols trailing 9-7, Guzman jumped on a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Hill and hit a grand slam home run to right-center. With one swing, the Gnats had a walk-off win.

"This wasn't a good win," said Guzman. "It was a great win."

The 5th-place Gnats lifted their record to 64-79.
