Panthers Turn Back Gnats, 8-6
|
Nate Barnett did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Nichols Gnats from being beaten, 8-6, to the Charleston Panthers at The Pond. Barnett went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Charleston reliever Robby Bueno was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Chad Stoppa. Francisco Carbajal notched his 4th save of the season.
Charleston used a well-timed hit by Phil Wilson to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Panthers ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager John Linttell.
With the win, the Panthers have a record of 63-60.
