| Victory Pushes Knights Record to 73-70 | Kingwood and St. Petersburg got after it at Billy Mathews Field.
Kingwood pitcher Iwane Kanda did his part in helping his team beat the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 6-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Kanda got the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 5.1 innings. Kanda allowed no earned runs.
Oscar Arballo drew 1 walk for Kingwood. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Luis Salcido. It was his 45th walk of the season.
"It was a solid team effort," said Kanda after the game.
The Knights bumped their record to 73-70 with this latest triumph.
