Hazleton Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction
The Niagara Falls Barrels picked up a win at Road Warriors Field, knocking off the Hazleton Birdwings, 2-1. Starting pitcher Tony Vertiz played a key role in the triumph. Picking up his 8th save was fireballing 6' 11" right-hander Jose Rodriguez. The 41-79 Birdwings have lost 10 consecutive games.

Niagara Falls used a well-timed hit by Carlos Salcedo to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Barrels ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Tony doing his thing just hyped us all up," said Niagara Falls manager Ewan Pethick.
