Benefiting from Santos Monterrubio's productive game, the Kingwood Knights downed the Chippewa River Chiefs, 8-6. Monterrubio went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI for the Knights. Heriberto Leon got the win, improving to 2-5. He held the River Chiefs to 4 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 10. Kevin Felson was credited with the save, his 8th in 8 tries.
Kevin DiMaio had a big grand slam home run for the Knights in the bottom of the second inning. With Kingwood trailing 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Diego Pais and swatted a home run to right. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 5-2.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said DiMaio, "one at-bat at a time."
The Knights go to 58-61, putting them 6th in the TML A Dick Williams Division.
