River Chiefs Get Past Nichols for 4-3 Win
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs spoiled a good performance by Nichols shortstop Jesus Torres, bumping off Nichols, 4-3, at The Pond. Torres was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The second-place River Chiefs now sit at 83-55.
John Howard, who is tied for 8th in the THA in stolen bases with 16, had a direct impact on the outcome. Howard contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Chippewa up, 4-3.
"No disrespect to the other team," said Chippewa manager Pang Yip. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
