Kendrick hits 2 home runs in Brownsville Win
|
The Brownsville Bandits defeated the Brisbane Bush Wackers, 8-0, in part because of designated hitter Alan Kendrick. Kendrick went 4-5 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6 for the Bandits. Kenji Sakai, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Bush Wackers to no runs on 1 hit over 5.1 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 6. After today's action, Brownsville sits at 65-73; Brisbane slips to 38-101.
With Brownsville leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Kendrick came up to bat against Brisbane pitcher Alfredo Bernal. Kendrick hit a fastball to right for a 3-run home run. His 34th home run of the season put the Bandits on top, 4-0.
"Not one of our better nights," said Brisbane skipper Charlie Hide.
