| Warriors Prevail, 8-6, Over Chippewa | Winfield beat Chippewa in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Winfield Warriors took Chippewa pitcher Brad Waller's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Barn. The final score had Winfield getting past the River Chiefs, 8-6. Waller went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 7. Reliever Bobby Collins picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Chris Terry took the loss.
Orlando Lazo, who is tied for 8th in the LBL in hits with 128, chipped in for Winfield with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Johnny Vallance said.
The Warriors bumped their record to 70-68 with this latest triumph.
