Sam Spurr did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Ottawa Civics from being beaten, 9-6, to the Kingwood Knights at Civics Field. Spurr hit 2 home runs. Raul Abalos notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. Kingwood is 4th in the TML HA Dick Williams Division with a record of 69-58.

Franklin Villagomez came through with a big-time hit for Kingwood. The catcher smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 9-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"When you win, you always have confidence," said Kingwood skipper Kazuki Yamamoto. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
