Ottawa pitcher John Haslam had a large part in his team subduing the Kingwood Knights, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winning pitcher was Haslam, now 13-5. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Their 93-33 record puts the Civics first in the TML HA Earl Weaver Division.
Danny Romero, who leads the THA in triples with 9, took Kingwood hurler Ruben Cruz deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Civics on top, 2-1. In all, Romero had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"The team always comes first," Haslam told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
