Perez Homers Twice in 8-1 Civics Win
The Ottawa Civics beat the Memphis Blues, 8-1, at The Barn. The win was due in part to center fielder Roberto Perez, who went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Juan Melgosa, the winner, improved to 5-0. He held the Blues to no runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The loss makes Memphis 81-45.

Ottawa left fielder John Reilly helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.

"Things went our way," said Reilly.
