Ottawa Loses, 8-6, in 12
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Civics Field.

The Victoria Vikings defeated the Ottawa Civics, 8-6, in 12 innings. Much of the credit belonged to catcher Josh Curtis, who was 2-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Vikings. Brian Brown, 6-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Butch Shumaker earned his 1st save in 3 chances.

Victoria used the timely hitting of Jose Espinoza to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Vikings on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It took some doing, but we got what we came for," said Vikings manager .

The first-place Vikings, at 73-50, now lead their division by 6 games.
