Arai Stars as Mounties Top Marauders, 12-6
The Montreal Mounties topped the Maple Marauders, 12-6, in Thurman Munson League action at Mount Royal Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Montreal designated hitter Kiyomi Arai. The win went to Rob Schuss in relief, making him now 1-0. Kitaw Kanaifu took the loss for Maple. The second-place Mounties lifted their record to 30-23.

The Marauders had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Mounties going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 2057 Rookie of the Year Award winner Gene Johnson came to the plate. Johnson hit a 3-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Maple hurler Kitaw Kanaifu. It was Johnson's 7th home run of the year.

"I had some good swings out there," said Arai.
