| Emeralds Roll Black Squirrels, 7-4 | With first baseman Tony Gonzales leading the charge, the Eugene Emeralds defeated the Tree City Black Squirrels, 7-4, at The Nut House. Gonzales, who is tied for 3rd in the DML in total bases with 191, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Even with the win, the Emeralds have a dismal 42-80 record.
Gonzales had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Kevin Lewis, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Emeralds a 6-3 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for Gonzales.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Gonzales, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
