The Barn was the site of a competitive game between the Memphis Blues and Ottawa Civics.

James Towns was superb against Memphis. The left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the THA with a 1.16 WHIP, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Civics victory. The score was 5-3. The winner was Towns. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Arturo Alvarez.

Roberto Perez had a big 2-run home run for the Civics in the top of the sixth inning. With Ottawa leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Arturo Alvarez and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Civics ahead, 4-0.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Towns.

Ottawa has rattled off 5 straight wins.
