Charleston Beats Ottawa, 4-2
|
Charleston starter Joey Marchant pitched well against the Ottawa Civics at Civics Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. Marchant picked up the win for Charleston, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 3-4. Kevin Tighe was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 11 save opportunities.
Charleston used the timely hitting of Bill Lipscomb to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Panthers on top, 4-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning never gets dull," said Lipscomb.
The current losing streak for Ottawa has reached 4 games.
