Crosscutters Turn Back Nichols, 2-0

Williamsport left-hander Francisco Valenzuela was in fine form, shutting out the Nichols Gnats, 2-0. Dave Castro converted his 30th save in 31 tries. With the win, the Crosscutters improved to 61-62.

The Crosscutters got a big at-bat from second baseman Eichiro Takahashi. For the game, Takahashi was 1-2 with 2 walks. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 56th hit of the season gave Williamsport a 1-0 lead.

In postgame comments to the Williamsport Times, Takahashi said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
