Fans who congregated at Road Warriors Field were treated to extra-inning drama.

The St. Petersburg Pelicans picked up a win at Road Warriors Field, knocking off the Hazleton Birdwings, 5-2, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Antonio Ponce played a key role in the triumph. St. Petersburg reliever Jacob Spitler picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Randy McCafferty was saddled with the loss. Jason Rhodes collected save number 5.

St. Petersburg third baseman Matt Pitts delivered a solo home run in the top of the tenth. Overall, he went 3 for 5, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and knocked in 1.

Ponce called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."

The defeat makes Hazleton 61-42.
