| Gnats Get Close Win Over Crosscutters | The Nichols Gnats beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 4-2, at Crosscutters Park. The Gnats got a fine performance from third baseman Tim Cox, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Nichols reliever Kyle Johnson picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Joe Arnt shouldered the loss. Nichols currently is in 4th place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division at 55-61.
Cox had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 slider from Joe Arnt, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Gnats a 4-2 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Cox.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Nichols manager Norm Cobb. "Our pregame was pretty good."
