Guest Saints Win, 11-3, at Chippewa
|
The St. Paul Saints picked up a win at The Reservation, knocking off the Chippewa River Chiefs, 11-3. On the mound for St. Paul was right-hander Ed Newson. He played a key role in the triumph. Newson, who is rated as the 13th best prospect by BNN, went the distance for St. Paul. He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits. Chippewa's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Heriberto Tamayo had a big 2-run home run for the Saints in the top of the fourth inning. With St. Paul leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Diego Pais and swatted a home run to right. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Saints ahead, 3-0.
"It feels good to get this one," Tamayo told the St. Paul Daily News.
