Sting Stymie Westside, Take 3-1 Win | The Houston Sting beat the Westside Road Warriors, 3-1, at Woodland Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Mark McNamee, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times. Houston reliever Evan Kaehler picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Dave Cespedes was saddled with the loss. The second-place Sting now have a win-loss record of 62-53.
Nick Giesler aided the Houston cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the third baseman was 1-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Houston manager Ramu Pavi said.
