Victory Pushes River Chiefs Record to 67-44
|
Chippewa designated hitter Jerry Glenn was instrumental in his team's 9-6 win over the Victoria Vikings. Glenn, who is tied for 5th in the TA in total bases with 184, went 3-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the River Chiefs. Chippewa reliever Kevin Hoard picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-3. Jake Kitchens was collared with the loss. Gil Ruelas converted his 31st save in 33 tries.
Everton Hofland's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh inning was a big one for Chippewa. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Chippewa trailing 6-5, the third baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Chippewa manager Clayton O'Neil.
Chippewa is now 67-44, 6½ games up in the TMLA Dick Williams Division.
