Tight Tilt Goes to Knights, 4-3
|
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Hiroyuki Kikuchi, the Winfield Warriors suffered a 4-3 loss to the Kingwood Knights. Kikuchi went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Kingwood starter Tanner Pieper was credited with the win after throwing 82 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. The 'W' lifts Kingwood's record to 52-56.
Tony Salazar contributed to the Kingwood win. The 24-year old catcher stroked a 2-run triple in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Salazar went 2 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Salazar said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
