Lake Monsters Shut Out Knights, 2-0
|
Right-hander Dan Strachan mesmerized the Kingwood Knights while leading the Okanagan Lake Monsters to a 2-0 victory. Strachan got the win, improving to 6-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. With the win, Okanagan goes to 44-46, while the Knights fall to 47-44.
Mario Figueroa had a big run-scoring triple for the Lake Monsters in the bottom of the first inning. With Okanagan leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Heriberto Leon and swatted a triple to center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lake Monsters ahead, 2-0.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Strachan told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
