Victoria Dismisses Charleston, 10-7
|
The Vikings grabbed a win, 10-7, at Franklin Mountains Field, overcoming a fine effort from Charleston pitcher Harry Gardner. Gardner went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Victoria pitcher Rich Arias earned the win, hiking his record to 7-7. Jeremy Koronkiewicz suffered the loss. Justin Andes earned the save, his 23rd.
Victoria used the timely hitting of David Nieves to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Vikings on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Victoria skipper .
The 63-44 Vikings lead the TML HA Earl Weaver Division by one game.
