The Carmel Apples rode a solid performance from 19-year-old starting pitcher Nick Fortenberry to a win, beating the Nichols Gnats, 4-1, at BLM Stadium. Fortenberry, now 9-5, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Apples are now 61-28.
