5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Alfredo Castro got his name recorded today, but the Brisbane Bush Wackers picked up the win at Baylor Ballpark, topping the Charleston Panthers, 12-8.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Tan Yue. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Castro spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the left fielder said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Alfredo Castro singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Esteban Castaneda in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Bill Robies in the 9th.

Castro is swinging at a .444 pace on the year with 5 home runs, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has played in 17 games.
