Jazz Rally to Eke Out Win
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Luis Cartagena, the Quebec Armada lost to the Montreal Jazz, 7-6, in 10 innings. Cartagena went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Montreal reliever Wolde-Selassie Ndegwa was the winner. His record is now 3-4. The losing pitcher was Joe Trumbull. Ernesto Herrera notched his 11th save of the season.

Montreal used the timely hitting of Rob Montemayor to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Jazz on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Montemayor told the Montreal Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."

Montreal is now 24-27, Quebec 25-25.
