Loss Tarnishes Fine Performance by Eckelberry
Runs were plentiful at BLM Stadium.

The San Antonio River Bandits outlasted Greg Eckelberry and the Carmel Apples, 11-9. Eckelberry was impressive in the loss. The Carmel first baseman went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Jose Gonzales picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kirk Davis suffered the loss.

San Antonio used a timely hit from Brent Carlson to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Bandits ahead, 11-9. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.

"I like our moxie," said River Bandits manager Lemn Onkwani.

San Antonio has won 3 straight, while Carmel has lost 3 in a row.
