Pitcher Zach McDermott was rock solid in helping the Niagara Falls Barrels beat the Charleston Panthers, 4-1. The winner was McDermott. He threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Mike DeGraffenried. Jose Rodriguez recorded the save, making him 20 for 24.

The Barrels had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 4-1, Niagara Falls, with one out. Charleston, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Nick Pereda dug in at the plate, but on a 2-1 changeup, he hit into a double play.
