River Bandits Fall to Escobar, Scorpions
|
The Sonoma Scorpions topped the San Antonio River Bandits, 9-3, with center fielder Jon Escobar playing a big role. Escobar was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Scorpions in the win. Johnny Berthet earned the win for Sonoma. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 13. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. Jonathan Uraga, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.
Escobar came through with some timely hitting for Sonoma. With the score 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth and two down, Escobar hit a 3-1 cutter for a run-scoring triple. His 7th triple of the season made it 4-2, Sonoma.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Escobar said.
Sonoma bumps their record to 53-45 with the win.
