Late Rally by Sting Seals 4th Straight Win
|
The Houston Sting dealt the St. Paul Saints a 6-3 loss at Saints Ballpark. Laird Edmonds was the star on offense. He went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Houston reliever Daniel Anders, now 6-0. The loser was Mark Fraze. Carlos Padilla, credited with the save, is now 11 for 12 in save opportunities.
In a game filled with surprises, perhaps none was as big as Edmonds's contribution. The Houston catcher is a relative newcomer. With two out in the top of the eighth, when the Sting had a runner on 1st, Edmonds delivered a crucial run-scoring single.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Houston manager Geoffrey Jellineck.
Houston has now won 4 in a row.
